My little guy is already 3 - Wow, where does the time go.
All he wanted for his birthday was a train cake. I had a really hard time with the idea of making him a sugary cake, but in the end I caved and went "all the way". I even had fun covering the box cars with candy. I will probably forever feel guilty, but Jacob is still talking about it a month later so I guess it was worth it...I guess.
His birthday party was a lot of fun. We had a few close friends over and Gran even came down from Waterloo. However, I have to say that the best part of the celebration happened a week before on the actual date of his birthday.
Andrew was away so I hired our favorite babysitter for Celeste and took Jacob on a special Mommy and Birthday boy date!
The day started off with a big breakfast at Denny's. It was so fun and he was so cuddly. We sat on the same side of the table and enjoyed just being together!
Toys R'Us a week before and was pretty excited to get it.
After breakfast we sped on to the model train show. Andrew had suggested that I dress Jacob up in his Thomas outfit from Halloween. I personally felt like doing so would be strictly for my own amusement. However, he really wanted to wear it without any prompting, so I guess we both won in the end.
I have never seen Jacob more excited in my life. He absolutely was in his ultimate glory. His favourite part of the show was the Thomas booth for grown ups. It had a display of large metal Tomas trains that Jacob had fun naming out to the vendor. He also loved the model displays and the toy area (yes, they to had a Thomas set that kids could play with)
Getting Jacob to leave the show was difficult, but I am so glad that I did. Before I even had kids I had envisioned the time when I could take my child to his or her first movie. So, in celebration of turning three I though that this was the perfect opportunity!
Upon entering the theater Jacob informed me in an excited tone that he "Felled" popcorn. So as soon as we paid for our tickets we headed over and got the kids pack.
I was so happy to see his excitement and awe as we entered the movie room. His eyes were as big as saucers and he simply stared with wonder at the screen
Jacob was also very cuddly during the movie and sat on my knee most of the time. I simply adored every moment!
The poor little guy was so tired by the end of the movie that he started really acting up. However, he really wanted to have birthday cake (cake is pretty important to him). So we made a quick stop over at Boston Pizza for some cake. He only ate two bites before wanting to leave, but at least he got his cake!
Happy Birthday Baby, I am so glad that Jesus gave me you!!!
